Gill (and a mini dachshund and Cairn Terrier), Slapton said:

“I bought my very nervous mini dachshund to Louise and he was immediately put at ease, she is very quiet and kind and when l picked him up, he looked lovely and not stressed out at all.

“My Cairn Terrier has been twice to Louise now and would not hesitate to recommend Louise. I will certainly be going to her again.”

Vanessa (and Bella a wool coated Cockapoo), Newton Abbot said:

“Being rather nervous about our cockapoo puppy’s very first groom, Louise at Sootypaws was so reassuring. Her facilities are wonderful and I knew Bella was in safe hands.

“Bella looked and smelt lovely, and was her happy bouncy self when we collected her. We’ve had lots of kind comments about her fluffy, teddy bear cut and will definitely be taking Bella back again and again.”

Yvonne (and Milly a long coated Cockapoo), Slapton said:

“Just want to say how lucky I have been to find Louise at Sooty Paws. My cockapoo Milly has been going there since I had her at eight weeks. Louise is such a calming and gentle groomer and I know my puppy is so well treated and loved there.

“The service and quality of the grooming is brilliant and she comes back to me looking absolutely fabulous and smelling gorgeous.

“I have no hesitation of recommending your dog salon to anyone and I am sure if my lovely Milly could talk she would tell you the same, you should be proud of yourself for the care, advice and understanding you give to your dogs is second to none.”

Karen (and Kym a Cocker Spaniel), Salcombe said:

“I recently moved to South Devon and was looking for a sympathetic groomer for my nervous, rescue cocker spaniel Kym. I contacted Louise, primarily, because I had read of her reiki experience and I thought that may help relieve my dog’s anxiety. I was not disappointed.

“Louise took the time to get to know me and both my dogs before arranging an appointment to groom the cocker spaniel. She was unfailingly patient and produced a fabulous groom despite the difficulties of a nervous dog. She took all the time she needed and I felt my dog had the best experience she could possibly have had.”

“SootyPaws is about 40 minutes from my home, but I will continue to use Louise because of the bond she develops with her clients and the high standards she achieves.”

Simon (and Max, an English Springer Spaniel), Slapton said:

I would like to thank you for doing such a wonderful job with Max. I cant believe how good he looks considering how scruffy he was when we dropped him off this morning. Considering he had such a rotten start in life and was so badly abused I am amazed at how calm he is when he comes home. He doesn’t normally like strangers so I can only guess you make him feel at ease for him to allow you to work your magic on him. If anyone wants to know I would not hesitate to recommend you and your service. Once again thank you very much.

Michelle (and a working English Cocker Spaniel), Stokenham said:

Quite how Louise managed to groom my young, very wriggly cocker spaniel is beyond me but he came out from her salon looking very handsome indeed. Louise is very professional from initial contact and consultation to her manner, process and well equipped salon. She is quiet, calm and confident and clearly skilled in her trade. She took a great deal of care and time to make sure that Bailey was groomed how I wanted him to be but giving guidance and advice at the same time. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone who requires her services.

Sandra (and Ollie a Cockapoo), Slapton said:

Ollie our cockapoo always looks very handsome after his visit to Louise. Louise is very caring and patient with Ollie and he is always delighted to see her. Louise also offers advice on how to groom Ollie between visits.

Julie (and Hattie a Border Terrier), Slapton said:

I have the highest praise for Louise at Sootypaws, she is very professional and has a calming effect on my Border Terrier.
Hettie has been hand stripped by Louise several times and looks delightful when she has been groomed. She can’t wait to see Louise which is testament to the gentle and understanding way that Louise handles her. The grooming room is pristine and well equipped. I would recommend Sootypaws to anyone who wants a very professional job done in a most caring way.

Tracy (and Teddy a Turkish Rescue dog), Weston Super Mare said:

I spoke to Louise about grooming my rescue dog Teddy who is still extremely nervous when being handled, but has a very thick coat that needed a professional groom to thin it out & make him more comfortable. On arriving at Louise’s the first half an hour was spent just talking & petting him to get him as calm as possible. She used a body bandage technique to make him feel more secure. I have never seen anyone use this method before, but it worked! Teddy even had a bath!! which was aided by covering his ears with a head bandage to reduce noise when he was being dried. He looked fantastic after and is now much more comfortable for reducing his coat for the summer. I can now feel relieved that Teddy will be able to be groomed with the minimum stress to him. I will however only be visiting Louise at Sooty Paws for his future treatments.

Liz (and Isla an English Springer Spaniel), Sherford said:

Isla is a rather nervous 3 year old and has always hated having her fur groomed or her ears combed, we have been to a couple of dog groomers before and the whole experience has been rather upsetting. We then met Lou at Sootypaws and Isla’s “pamper days” have been transformed!! Lou is very professional, calming, quiet and totally reassuring. Isla is happy to go to Lou’s salon and be left with her, she comes out clean and beautifully cut as to how we would like her and she enjoys the Reiki session at the end. I would and have recommended other dog owners to go to Sootypaws.

Kate (and Molly a Border Terrier), Slapton said:

Molly has visited Sootypaws for a groom and hand strip a few times now and I am delighted Louise is able to turn this typical “wired” coconut of a border terrier into a groomed sweetly smelling dog. Hand stripping wriggling Border Terriers isn’t easy and it must require all of Louise ‘s patience and calm to finish the job so well. Molly’s testimony? Well, she always makes a beeline to Sooty Paws door when we pass and is so pleased to see Louise again…. the biscuits 🍪 help too!

Tania (and Mojo a Yorkiechon), Slapton said:

I would really recommend Lou, apart from being such a lovely person she’s amazing dog groomer! Before I moved to Slapton I groomed Mojo myself which was a disaster, with the mess and stress of it and the end result Mojo wouldn’t want to be seen in public! Mojo is a very nervous dog but Lou puts him at ease (and me too). She has a very calming influence on him and the end result is brilliant, if only for a hour or two before he finds a brook or muddy puddle and we repeat the cycle! We are very lucky to find her!

Jackie (and Shaddow, a very wriggly Cockapoo), Sherford said:

I think I have, as my constant companion, the most wriggly Cockapoo in the South Hams. His hobby is digging, and my little mud magnet keeps me entertained [washing and brushing] for hours. Somehow Louise manages to transform this hairy worm into a sweet smelling devilishly handsome critter. At Louise’s suggestion I have invested in a grooming table [Amazon £62] and some proper grooming tools so I now have two free hands and I stand a fighting chance with my lovable rogue. See you soon Louise. Jackie & Shadow.

Gilly (and Pebbles a beautiful Cavapoo), Strete said:

Louise has a gentle, patient approach that is ideal for my timid Cavapoo Pebbles. She has built a good relationship with both myself and Pebbles. I have found her professional advise for maintaining Pebbles curly coat invaluable, enabling me to keep Pebbles looking beautiful between her grooming sessions. She has created a calm, well equipped grooming environment. Louise and I will discuss what sort of length and style of the cut Pebbles will have and I am always very pleased with the results.
